Went to the Hampton Blackbeard Festival at the weekend with ~rocksolidfrog. It was sooooo great. But really, I'm surprised everyone didn't kill me, going on as I was about how awesome it would be. I'll just say that little kids dressed up as pirates is probably the greatest thing I've ever seen.

On Saturday, despite raining profusely, there was a good showing of folks, the vendors had all kinds of pirate memorabillia, both authentic and the tacky. On Sunday I went up alone to take pictures; favorites were the parading of Blackbeard's "head" (paper mache, and 4x the size of a normal human head, nonetheless) and the "capture" of the pirates.

mm..Sorry for the hiatus--I rather....broke the computer. Aparently System Restore and System Recovery aren't the same thing...amongst other issues which required a new hardrive.....so it'll be slow until then. Might be tomorrow. I'm thinking about starting a painting inspired by George R.R. Martin books, but thats kinda stagnating... At any rate, stick with me, I'll be posting more soon.

Got a new lens for the ol' Canon A-1. Manual focus 50mm, f/1.4.

In other news, my dad found a Argus C3, or something close to it, that was produced in the 30s....I love it, but it decided to eat my film...something that will have to be remedied in the future...

So I got the best surprise today.... I knew my dad had an old Canon A1
that was broken, (which miraculously has healed itself) and I went to dig it out; But also in the same camera bag was:

a Canon TX with no lenses, unfortunately, but can remedy that soon.
A mass of filters, (who the hell knew we had filters?)
A bunch of shutter cable thingies, extender lens, all kinds of crazy stuff.

All in all, this loot remedied the 5+ hours I spent researching stem cell research....bleh
